1. Recommended N rate is based on the relationship:
N (lb/acre) = 40 + [1.75
x (yield potential - 50)]
2. No credits are made based
on previous crop. Consult state recommendations concerning credits for organic
waste materials such as manure. 3. Apply 15 to 30 lb N/acre at planting and remainder
near green-up in spring; or, apply all N at planting as anhydrous ammonia plus
a nitrification inhibitor, injected on 15" or narrower spacing. 4. On high organic
matter soils (greater than 20% organic matter) reduce the N rate by 30 to 50 lb
N/acre.
