Measuring the number of plants in an acre is done sometime during the growing season. A simple method to use is by counting the number of plants in 1/1000 of an acre. This is done by measuring along the row the distance needed to equal 1/1000th of an acre (based on row width). The number of plants are counted in this measured distance. After doing this in at 3 separate sections of the field, the average of these samples is calculated and multiplied by 1000. This represents the number of plants per acre.
