Japanese Beetle
Metallic colored adult Japanese beetles (JB) emerge in early July and remain abundant until summer. JB adults tend to aggregrate and are often more abundant along field borders. Thus, random sampling of foliage is important.
Grasshoppers
During hot summers, various species of grasshoppers may be abundant, especially along grassy borders of a field.
Green Cloverworm
This pest is often found in soybean in low numbers, but economic infestations warranting treatment are uncommon.
The occurrence of one or more insect defoliators in abundance may lead to unacceptable defoliation. Defoliation levels should be monitored closely, especially from bloom to pod-fill.
