AgricultuHER “Finding Your Voice”

OSU Extension Champaign and Miami Counties are excited to announce the AgricultuHER “Finding Your Voice” event to be held on November 3. This event is designed to bring women of agriculture together to discuss how to share our way of life and career with the general public. As more of our community becomes further removed from the farm, it is important to be able to explain what we do and why we do it.

The evening will feature three guest speakers. Emily Adams is an Extension Educator in Coshocton County and has developed a strong Women in Agriculture program in her county. She will guide participants on how to navigate conversations when emotions are strong. Laura Sutherly operates a cattle and grain farm as well as a commercial grain and fertilizer retail business with her husband. She will share with us how she has used social media to raise awareness about today’s agricultural practices. Lastly, Jess Campbell, co-owner of Carroll Creek Farms, loan officer with Farm Credit mid-America and president of Warren County Farm Bureau has a wide range of experience in the agriculture industry. Jess will discuss how she has been an advocate for agriculture locally and at the state and national levels.

All three speakers have unique experiences and approaches to promoting agriculture. The evening will begin at 6pm with light refreshments and time to mix and mingle. We will conclude at about 8:45pm. Registration is $15 and is due October 21. The event will be held at the First Baptist Church, 53 S. Norwich Rd in Troy. RSVPs can be made to either the Champaign or Miami County Extension Offices. The registration brochure can be found at http://go.osu.edu/agevents . We’d like to thank the Miami County and Champaign County Farm Bureaus for their sponsorship of this event.
