  • Battle for the Belt: Corn Diseases & Planting Considerations. Dr. Stephanie Karhoff discusses corn disease based on planting date, including information on seed decay and seedling blight, northern corn leaf blight, gray leaf spot, and tar spot. Dr. Karhoff also discusses hybrid selection and the use of foliar fungicide to manage diseases in corn.  
  • Battle for the Belt: Soybean Diseases & Planting Considerations. Dr. Horacio Lopez-Nicora discusses soybean disease and planting date interactions. Dr. Lopez-Nicora provides diagnostic information for sudden death syndrome of soybean along with diversity of the pathogen across Ohio. He also discusses other soilborne pathogens, including Fusarium graminearum, Rhizoctonia, Phytophthora, and Pythium.
  • Drones & Data in Agriculture. PhD student, Luke Waltz, discusses the use of drones and data in agriculture as part of a Nationwide AgTech Innovation Hub grant. Learn how technology can be used to track crop emergence, crop development, soil moisture, and kernel weight.
  • Weather Outlook. Dr. Aaron Wilson gives a summary of the 2023 growing season as well as the 2024 weather outlook.
  • Phosphorus: Insights from Ohio Field Trials. Dr. Manbir Rakkar discusses crop response to phosphorus fertilizer, soil response to phosphorus fertilizer, and new research questions to address in the upcoming years.
  • Weed Management Update. Dr. Alyssa Essman provides a weed management update, including information on weed populations prior to harvest in the fall, the ‘Big Five’ weeds of Ohio (waterhemp, common ragweed, giant ragweed, horseweed, and Palmer amaranth), and components of an effective herbicide program.
