Fall Army Worm Moths

Fall Armyworm Update

We have reached our 21st week of monitoring moth pests in Ohio which monitored FAW from September 15th to September 21st.  This is our second to last week of reporting, so we would like to thank all of our participants and readers for sticking with monitoring and updates throughout this season!

Similar to the previous update, the weather was warm and dry over the course of our monitoring period. We did see a spike of FAW moths in some counties over the past week – particularly in Henry Co. which averaged 67.0 and Wayne Co. with an average of 34.0 (Figure 1). The statewide average increased from 3.6 moths per trap to 13.4 moths per trap. A quick reminder, FAW do not overwinter in Ohio, so these numbers won’t impact numbers for the 2026 field season.
