Northeast Ohio Fertilizer Applicator Certification Training

Producers, land managers, and agricultural professionals will have the opportunity to meet Ohio fertilizer certification requirements during a comprehensive 3-hour Fertilizer Applicator Certification Training, offered by OSU Extension Trumbull County.

This interactive program is designed for anyone applying fertilizer to 50 acres or more for a crop grown primarily for sale (hay, corn, soybeans, etc.) as required by law. It is also a great opportunity to learn more about nutrient management and how to cut inputs in a challenging market. Participants will receive essential training on nutrient stewardship, environmental protection, and best management practices that support both farm productivity and water quality. Upon completion of the course, participants will have completed the required training to receive the Ohio Department of Agriculture Fertilizer Certification.

Training Topics Include:

  • Principles of soil fertility and crop nutrition
  • Proper soil testing strategies
  • Preventing nutrient runoff and protecting water resources
  • Regulatory requirements for Ohio fertilizer applicators
  • Recordkeeping and compliance guidelines
