  1. The annual forecast for the severity of the Harmful Algal Bloom on Lake Erie was released on July 9th.The actual forecast was dramatically different than the early forecast which was in the C.O.R.N. 2015-14 (http://corn.osu.edu/newsletters/2015/2015-14/noaa-lake-erie-algal-bloom-projection ).

  2. New regulations for manure and fertilizer application started on July 3, 2015 when Senate Bill Number 1 came into effect. The legislation affects nitrogen and phosphorus application whether applied as manure or granular fertilizers. Parts of the regulations are targeted specifically to define watersheds that encompass the Western Basin of Lake Erie while one provision is effective statewide.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has combined data from the National Center of Coastal Ocean Science and Heidelberg University's National Center for Water Quality Research to predict the severity of harmful algal blooms in western Lake Erie. The first projection is as follows:
